“I actually am aware that the broader intelligence community was heartened by that pick.”
Former CIA Director Michael Hayden
Former CIA Director Michael Hayden said Sunday he was pleased with President-elect Donald Trump’s pick of Mike Pompeo to lead the CIA.
When asked whether he thought Pompeo had enough experience, Hayden said he believes Pompeo, a Kansas congressman, has as much experience as Leon Panetta did when he assumed the post. [POLITICO]

“The people who know him from the House intelligence committee have always said he was serious. He studied the issues. He was worth talking to.”
Hayden defended Pompeo’s remarks [about harsh interrogation tactics], saying it was “done within the law, done by people who did it reluctantly, not out of enthusiasm and it produced good intelligence for America.”
A Dissenting Voice
Ray McGovern began his 27-year service as a CIA analyst under President Kennedy, quickly becoming Chief of the Soviet Foreign Policy Branch. Under President Reagan, he conducted one-on-one morning briefings of the most senior White House, State Department, and Defense officials, based on that day’s President’s Daily Brief.
Ray McGovern believes that Mike Pompeo is likely to follow George Tenet’s lead in helping fabricate intelligence supporting an attack on Iran.
