One Year Ago — FBI Counterintelligence Agent : “Trump is a Fucking Idiot.”

“I am riled up. Trump is a fucking idiot, is unable to provide a coherent answer. I can’t pull away. What the fuck happened to our country??!?!”

Peter Strzok — FBI counterintelligence agent (Email to FBI lawyer dated October 18 2016)

December 16 2017 — Peter Strzok  — a FBI counterintelligence agent — was removed from special counsel Robert Mueller’s team during the summer 2017 following the discovery of text messages exchanged with FBI lawyer Lisa Page. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

UPDATE (December 16 2017) — In June and July 2017, Strzok worked on Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation into any links or coordination between Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and the Russian government.

Mueller removed Strzok from the Russia investigation when it became known that he had written criticisms of Trump in personal text messages sent to a colleague.

On August 10 2018, David Bowdich — the FBI deputy director —  fired Strzok.

END of UPDATE

It was Strzok’s decision to edit key language in a memo that former FBI director James Comey authored about the bureau’s assessment of Clinton’s actions.

I think that we are beginning to understand why former CIA and NSA Director Michael Hayden called the Clinton email controversy a “catastrophe for national security”.

FBI agent Peter Strzok played a key role in the FBI’s investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, as well as its investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

As the deputy head of counterintelligence, Strzok was widely considered one of the most experienced investigators in his field at the FBI.

Strzok worked extensively on the bureau’s inquiry into Clinton’s use of a private email server to conduct government business before joining Mueller’s team.

It was Strzok’s decision to edit key language in a memo that former FBI director James Comey authored about the bureau’s assessment of Clinton’s actions.

The original draft of the memo — which was created in May 2016 and turned over to the Senate Judiciary Committee recently — stated:

“There is evidence to support a conclusion that Secretary Clinton, and others, used the email server in a manner that was grossly negligent with respect to the handling of classified information.”

Around June 10, 2016, the memo’s language was changed to say Clinton’s actions were “extremely careless” instead of grossly negligent.

In July 2016, FBI Director James Comey announced at a press conference that the DOJ would not file charges against Clinton because investigators did not have sufficient evidence to prove that she intended to act illegally.

However, one can be guilty even if he/she never intended to act illegally. One can be guilty for acting in a manner that was grossly negligent.

But one can not be charged for being ‘simply’ careless… Or even extremely careless.

That is a very thin red line indeed…. [These concepts were already well-defined in Roman Law.]

At the Tech Crunch conference on May 12 2017, former CIA and NSA Director Michael Hayden discussed the Clinton email controversy calling it a catastrophe for national security.

‘I would lose respect for scores of foreign intelligence services around the world if they were not already thumbing through every email that was kept on Hillary’s server.’

In September 2016, Michael Hayden stated that  the FBI’s new report on Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server was ‘more proof she was not fit to be president’.

“I have previously said that the real ‘sin’ in the email/private server debacle was the ‘original sin.’

Once you set it up this way, it would inevitably break bad.”

I do not know if Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server is better described — under US Law — as grossly negligent or extremely careless.

But it is a fact that some US IC assets were executed because of this absolutely inexcusable and horrifying mistake.

Thus, I find it very difficult to disagree with General Hayden’s conclusions.
