INTEL TODAY — Vote for the Most Outrageous Statement of the YEAR (2018 — POLL)

“And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”

John 8:32

As Ted Koppel once famously said : “Governments lie. They do it all the time. And, much as we’d like to believe otherwise, the US government is no exception. There were times when we may have believed otherwise. But after Vietnam and Watergate, we know better.” (July 1, 1992, ABC News) And yet, some lies are clearly more disgusting than others. Which of these four lies — which Intel Today discussed over the last 12 months– do you find the most outrageous? Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

A — On August 19 2018, during an appearance on Meet the Press, President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani told Chuck Todd that he sees a credibility gap between President Trump and Special Counsel Mueller.

“Truth isn’t truth,” Rudy Giuliani insisted during the interview.

B — In his book  Enhanced Interrogation, Dr. James Mitchell offers a first-person account of the CIA EIT program, providing a contribution to our historical understanding of one of the most controversial elements of America’s ongoing war on terror.

“CIA EITs program was not torture. If it was, I would be in jail. I am just the guy who was asked to do something for his country, ” Dr. James Mitchell claims.

In December 2014, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence issued a declassified 500 page summary of its still classified 6,700 page report on the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Detention and Interrogation Program. The report concluded that “the CIA’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques (EIT) was not effective for acquiring intelligence or gaining cooperation from detainees.” And the programme was illegal, both under US law and international law. “James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen are war criminals,” former CIA Officer John Kiriakou wrote to Intel Today.

C — On April 13 2017, CIA Director Mike Pompeo  delivered his first public speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

In his attempt to build a parallel between Philip Agee and Julian Assange, CIA Director Mike Pompeo said:

“That man was Philip Agee, one of the founding members of the magazine Counterspy, which in its first issue in 1973 called for the exposure of CIA undercover operatives overseas. In its September 1974 issue, Counterspy publicly identified Richard Welch as the CIA Chief of Station in Athens. Later, Richard’s home address and phone number were outed in the press in Greece.

Let us point out the obvious. Counterspy could not have publicly identified Richard Welch as the CIA Chief of Station in Athens in September 1974 since Welch arrived in Greece in July 1975!

D — In a telling telephone interview with George Galloway MP for ‘Talk  RADIO’ on  September 5 2009, Mr Frank Duggan — a veteran campaigner for the US families of Lockerbie victims — admitted he was not really familiar with certain aspects of Lockerbie.

Mr Galloway asked Mr Duggan why the U.S. government had given star witness Tony Gauci a US$ 2 million “reward” to which Mr Duggan replied:

“There was no proof of such a payment. I am not that familiar” with Mr Gauci’s evidence. (…) Now you can choose to believe Robert Black, Dr Jim Swire and all of these other ‘cranks’ or you can believe the Judges.”

In 2008, the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC Ref 23:19) found that US$2 million had been paid to Tony Gauci and US$1 million to Paul Gauci under the US Department of Justice “Rewards for Justice” programme.

Thank you and Stay tuned!
